B2BThrive - Helping Your Business Grow!

doomed

What is your mindset?

I was recently challenged on my business mindset as I was working on a project to further one of my workshops.  As it turns out, the vast majority of small business owners (that make it past 5 years) are forever doomed to stay self-employed.  They never get their business past operating through themselves.  This means you aren’t growing, hiring, training or developing any one to run or care for your business in your absence.

Does your business come to a complete halt if you aren’t there to run it?  Mind does.  Which is okay for today, being as I’ve been in business for 5 years.  The question I had to ask myself is:  What will the next 5 years bring to my business?

So let’s break the idea of this “5 year” plan down.  A 5 year plan has to have an actual end date.  For myself, 2015 is 5 years in business. So my next 5 years starts in 2016.  Where will my business be by 2020? Although I will always have goals that range from 3-5 years out, if I play it right, they won’t be the same goals rolling over for another 5 years.

Sometimes this requires you to actually think bigger. (Don’t hurt yourself)

Are you daunted by the idea of paying someone $15/h? Do you think you can make it to the point of paying someone a $50,000 or $70,000 salary to manage your organization?  Can anyone do it just like you?  Can they do it better than you? What about moving from an at home office to an office space…with your name on the front?

Today my tips are quick.

  1. Assess your mindset (Honestly)
  2. Create a plan
  3. Work that plan

Simple enough?  Well, the key to these tips are based on self-awareness and discipline.  Do you have what it takes?
